to destroy...to build...

i'll tell you what...this whole new start church thing...its no joke. its so hard for me to be patient.  We haven't even been here for 3 full months yet, and i'm gettin down on myself for not knowing more people and being better connected to our community.  but yet, i know full well that it's going to take time...

..sometimes i wish that part of my brain would communicate with the impatient one...the one thats afraid of failure...i wish the reasonable side of my brain would be a little louder than the one that that is impatient and unreasonable...

...so, that's my rant for the moment...

on another note, we started studying Jeremiah tonight.  It's going to be interesting, we just went through Ephesians section by section, and the 52 chapters of Jeremiah seem a little daunting in light of that.  One thing that I'm going to be keying in on as we read through this book is how vs. 10 of chapter one plays out in the rest of the book...God has sent Jeremiah:
to pluck up and to breakdown,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant...
what is that goin to look like on the real?  i hear Bruggeman's book Prophetic Imagination in my head...the prophet must point to the reality of grief before the prophet brings the message of hope...hmm

anyway, Steelers looked good this week, my Irish squeaked by San Diego State, and i didn't receive any emails today calling Obama a muslim or McCain an old warmonger...good day, good day...

Yes, yes... it will take time.. but as I am sure you have noticed... it is God who has sent Jeremiah and therefore God who will destroy and rebuild. You can rest and celebrate and enjoy today even in the midst of seeking to be faithful to the one who has called you. Much peace to you.

McCain's not the warmonger - that's Guiliani.
