Advent activity...

2:30 PM Posted by nick mucci 5 comments
I've had a great couple of weeks meeting people and hearing stories of what God is doing around NoPo...from people having unexpected encounters, miraculous healings, and joy, it's got me excited, and its got me praying to see more of God's work, I don't want to miss what God is up to...so, I've got a question for my 5 faithful readers...In this season of Advent, where we all anticipate the incarnation of God in the babe Jesus and the return of our Lord someday...Where have you seen God at work in the last week?  Hook me up with a story!

i'm sure you have more than 5 readers my friend. you are inspiring to a lot of people bro.

that said, here is a simple story.

i was talking with a resident at the boston rescue mission who is in charge of maintenance. the guy could not have been happier and more friendly than he was. he was incredibly helpful, especially since when we got there this past saturday all the morning staff had either called in or were on vacation.

he told me that he had been through tons of detox programs in his life, but nothing ever worked until he was confronted with the Gospel at the rescue mission. he has been sober for 60 days now and this is the first time in his adult life that he has not addicted to something.

his joy was such a beautiful example of how Christ redeems and transforms that which was broken. it was a great reminder to me. it also made me really thankful for the people who invest countless hours into these people's lives. good stuff.

i'm always excited to hear what's going on with you out there my friend. God bless.

Thursday was quite a downer kind of day for me - particularly in the morning. Almost all of a sudden, my spirit changed, my anxiety and depression lifted, and I felt free, healthy (though sick), happy and just ok again. Not a half hour later I got a call from a friend who said she saw my facebook status a little bit earlier,("having a weird sort of day") and stopped and just prayed. It was amazing how I felt like God answered her prayer and lifted my spirits...and I didn't even know anyone was praying for me. I love to see God use His people in so many ways...praying, giving, loving the "unlovable" (what does that even mean?), serving, etc. It was a simple thing, but I could only stop and praise Him for hearing the prayers of my friend, and for hearing the desperation in my spirit.

I'd love to hear more details about the things of your week...

And I agree with Dave that you have more than 5 readers. :)

Love you guys. You're doing great Kingdom work out there!

I got to participate in the first KCYUC basketball practice of the year today. I continue to be amazed with the demeanor and attitude of these young men, especially with so many new faces. Lots of respect and maturity.
